As entrepreneurial parent, life is already hard.

🔥 You need to juggle daily fires in your business.

🤲 Supporting your team through challenges

💵 Keeping your finances in order (both in business and at home)

👧🏻🧒🏾but all these things pale in comparison to keeping your kids healthy, and feeling loved.

And to imagine having my kids go to school, which every parent hopes is a safe place, where they are gunned down by a clearly troubled 18-year old…

Actually, I don’t have to imagine it. It just happened.

My heart is crushed right now.

Today I’m having a real hard time thinking about business at all.

Literally all I can think about is, “what the hell can I do to stop something like this from ever happening again?”

Then thoughts like this creep in:

“I’m nobody, with no power, and no connections. And this is a problem bigger than me.”

This is probably what most of you all think too.

We get hot on wanting to change because it’s a fresh wound, but then life smacks us in the face and we go back to the way things were.

A special few don’t go back.

Probably because they were personably affected.

Someone close to them was affected.

But here I am, seeing the fresh wounds that parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends of 19 souls are feeling;

And I don’t want to go back.

I want to help.

Many will say this is a gun problem, and who knows, maybe a small part of it is.

But my gut tells me this is a mental health problem.

This is a parenting problem.

This is a lack of community and love when kids are growing up problem.

I don’t fucking know how to fix this, but i’m going to spend a lot of time figuring out what can instill the most positive change in our kids mental health.

And maybe there is some small thing that I can be a part of to instill a shift.

If anybody has any insight they would like to share on resources, organizations, or most importantly to me right now, people who have deep knowledge in the space of children’s mental health, I would be very grateful.
